PM Modi to Visit Gujarat; Offer Prayers at Somnath, Flag Off Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat from January 10 to 12, with a packed itinerary combining spiritual, cultural, and developmental engagements.

The visit will begin on the evening of January 10 in Somnath, where PM Modi will participate in Omkar Mantra chanting at the Somnath temple at around 8 pm, followed by a drone show. The visit coincides with the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, which commemorates the rich spiritual heritage of the region and marks 1,000 years since Mahmud of Ghazni’s attack on the temple in 1026.

On January 11, PM Modi will take part in the ceremonial Shaurya Yatra at 9:45 am, a procession honoring the warriors who defended the Somnath temple. He will then offer prayers at the temple at around 10:15 am, followed by a public function marking the Swabhiman Parv at 11 am. Later in the day, he will travel to Rajkot to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Kutch and Saurashtra, inaugurate a trade show and exhibition at 1:30 pm, and address attendees at Marwadi University.

The Prime Minister will then proceed to Ahmedabad to inaugurate the remaining stretch of Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro at Mahatma Mandir metro station at 5:15 pm. This phase covers stations from Sector 10A to Mahatma Mandir, enhancing urban connectivity in the city.

On January 12, PM Modi will meet German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ahmedabad. Their engagements will include a visit to Sabarmati Ashram at 9:30 am, participation in the International Kite Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront, and bilateral meetings at Mahatma Mandir from 11:15 am to review progress on the 25-year-old India-Germany Strategic Partnership.

Taking to X, PM Modi described the Somnath Swabhiman Parv as “a powerful symbol of our spiritual tradition,” highlighting his participation in Omkar Mantra chanting and the Shaurya Yatra.
