PM Modi To Release 21st PM-KISAN Instalment On November 19: Over ₹3.7 Lakh Crore Distributed So Far

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on November 19, 2025. Under PM-KISAN, eligible farmers receive annual financial support of ₹6,000, delivered in three equal instalments directly into their bank accounts.

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched on February 24, 2019, is a central sector initiative aimed at providing income support to all landholding farmer families in the country. According to a statement issued by the Union Agriculture Ministry on Friday, the release of the 21st instalment marks another milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen farmers’ economic stability.

So far, more than ₹3.70 lakh crore has been transferred to over 11 crore farmer families through 20 instalments. These funds have helped farmers meet key agricultural expenses such as the purchase of seeds, fertilisers, and other inputs, while also supporting essential household needs including health, education, and marriage-related expenses.

The scheme benefits only those farmers whose land records are uploaded and verified on the PM-KISAN portal. Their bank accounts must also be Aadhaar-linked to ensure seamless fund transfer. To expand its reach, the Centre has been conducting special saturation drives at the village level to identify, verify, and include all cultivable land-owning farmers under the scheme.

A study conducted by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in 2019 assessed the impact of PM-KISAN on farming households. The findings suggested that the scheme has significantly contributed to rural economic growth by easing farmers’ credit constraints and enabling greater investments in agricultural activities.

Highlighting the government’s focus on last-mile delivery, the Agriculture Ministry announced a new initiative to create a comprehensive farmer registry. This updated and carefully verified database aims to simplify access to welfare schemes by eliminating cumbersome procedures currently faced by farmers.
