PM Modi To Inaugurate And Lay Foundation Stone For Multiple Development Projects In Delhi Tomorrow

New Delhi [India], January 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the newly constructed flats for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters under the in-situ slum rehabilitation project at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar, Delhi, tomorrow, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Prime Minister will inaugurate 1,675 newly built flats for the residents of JJ clusters and hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries at Swabhiman Apartments. This marks the successful completion of the second in-situ slum rehabilitation project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The project aims to provide a better and healthier living environment with necessary amenities for the residents of Delhi’s JJ clusters.

For every Rs 25 lakh spent on constructing a flat, the government receives less than 7 percent from eligible beneficiaries, comprising Rs 1.42 lakh as a nominal contribution and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.

In addition to the flats, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects: the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar and General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II quarters at Sarojini Nagar. The WTC replaces over 600 outdated quarters with modern commercial towers offering around 34 lakh square feet of premium office space, complete with green building features, including solar energy generation and rainwater harvesting systems.

The Sarojini Nagar project consists of 28 towers with over 2,500 residential units, modern amenities, and eco-friendly systems such as rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment, and solar-powered waste compactors.

The PM will also inaugurate the CBSE’s integrated office complex at Dwarka, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. This eco-friendly building includes offices, an auditorium, an advanced data center, and a water management system, built according to platinum standards of the Indian Green Building Council.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for three new educational projects at Delhi University, worth over Rs 600 crore. These include academic blocks at the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar and the Western Campus in Dwarka, as well as Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, which will feature state-of-the-art educational facilities.
