Bihar is poised for a major leap in rail connectivity and infrastructure as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off two cutting-edge trains—Amrit Bharat Express and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail—during his visit to the state on April 24.
This marks the convergence of the “Triveni” of modern Indian railways—Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat—in Bihar, with the state becoming a model for India’s evolving railway network.
Key Train Launches and Features
🚄 Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Jayanagar–Patna Route)
- Second service after Ahmedabad-Bhuj
- 16 AC coaches (upgrade from previous 12)
- Capacity of 2,000+ passengers
- Features:
- Kavach Automatic Train Protection
- CCTV, emergency talk-back systems
- Dual USB charging, vacuum toilets, disabled-friendly washrooms
- Engine reversal eliminated via dual loco pilot cabins
- Route map indicators—a first for Indian open-line trains
🚆 Amrit Bharat Express (Saharsa–Mumbai LTT)
- Third service after Darbhanga–Anand Vihar and Malda Town–Bengaluru
- Non-AC sleeper express with Push-pull technology
- Built at ICF Chennai under Make-in-India
- Speed: up to 130 km/h
- Modern features:
- Foldable snack tables, spring suspension seats
- Electro-pneumatic flushing, soap dispensers
- Fire detection, emergency systems
- Real-time wheel and bearing health monitoring
Rail Projects to Be Dedicated
PM Modi will also inaugurate three new railway lines:
- Supaul–Pipra
- Khagaria–Alouli
- Hasanpur–Vithan
New passenger trains will also be launched on:
- Pipra–Saharsa (via Supaul)
- Samastipur–Saharsa (via Vithan and Alouli)
These new routes are set to boost local connectivity and ease access between remote parts of North Bihar and the Mithila region.
Dilip Kumar, Ministry of Railways, emphasized:
“With these launches, Bihar will have all three pillars of modern railway vision—Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat. These trains represent world-class engineering and passenger experience.”
This massive infrastructure push underscores the central government’s commitment to a self-reliant and connected India, delivering faster, safer, and more comfortable rail journeys to one of the country’s most populous states.
