PM Modi To Commission 3 Naval Combatants And Inaugurate ISKCON Temple In Mumbai

New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate three frontline naval combatants—INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer—to the nation during their commissioning ceremony at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The commissioning of these major naval assets marks a pivotal milestone in India’s journey towards achieving global leadership in defence manufacturing and maritime security, according to an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

INS Nilgiri

INS Nilgiri, the first ship under the P17A Stealth Frigate Project, has been designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau. The frigate incorporates advanced features that enhance survivability, seakeeping, and stealth, showcasing the next generation of indigenous frigate design.

INS Surat

As the fourth and final ship in the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, INS Surat is one of the world’s largest and most advanced destroyers. It boasts 75% indigenous content and is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, sensors, and network-centric capabilities.

INS Vaghsheer

INS Vaghsheer, the sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene Project, demonstrates India’s growing proficiency in submarine construction. Built in collaboration with France’s Naval Group, the submarine reinforces India’s maritime defence capabilities.

In addition to the naval commissioning, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, an ISKCON project located in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.
