Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the all-India conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from Saturday, November 30, to December 1.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the three-day conference, which began on November 29, focuses on critical national security topics such as counterterrorism, left-wing extremism (LWE), coastal security, cybercrime, narcotics, and economic security.
The event provides a platform for senior police officials and security administrators to discuss national security issues and review operational, infrastructural, and welfare challenges faced by Indian police forces. The progress on implementing new criminal laws and reviewing best practices in policing is also on the agenda.
The PMO highlighted unique features of this year’s conference, including yoga sessions, business and break-out discussions, and thematic dining tables, enabling officials to share insights and suggestions directly with the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister has emphasized organizing the annual DGP/IGP conference across different parts of India since 2014. Previous venues have included Guwahati, Hyderabad, Rann of Kachchh, Tekanpur, Pune, Lucknow, and the Statue of Unity at Kevadiya.
The 59th edition of this conference in Bhubaneswar will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Ministers of State for Home Affairs, state DGPs, and chiefs of central police organizations, among others.
The conference aims to develop a roadmap to address existing and emerging challenges in areas like coastal security, left-wing extremism, and cybercrime, further strengthening the country’s internal security framework.
