Monsoon Session to Begin July 21; Govt and Opposition Gird Up for Key Issues Including Terror Attacks, Voter List Revisions, and Crucial Bills
New Delhi, July 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to brief accredited media persons on Monday, just ahead of the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The interaction will take place before the first day of the Fifth Session of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha.
The upcoming session, beginning July 21 and continuing till August 21, is expected to witness intense debates. The Opposition is gearing up to raise critical issues, including the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

In preparation for the session, the Centre convened an all-party meeting on Sunday aimed at ensuring smooth proceedings. The meeting was attended by floor leaders from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, with participation from 51 political parties and a total of 54 leaders.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, alongside Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda and Ministers of State Arjun Ram Meghwal and L Murugan, urged all parties to cooperate for the effective functioning of Parliament.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Rijiju described the discussion as “constructive” and highlighted the collective responsibility of both ruling and opposition parties. “Though we come from different ideologies, it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that Parliament functions properly,” he said.
On the possibility of discussing Operation Sindoor, Rijiju welcomed the idea, stating, “It is a very good opinion. The experiences from all-party delegations following Operation Sindoor should be shared with the nation.”
