New Delhi [India], June 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi today at 5 PM, marking a key engagement with global aviation leaders. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi announced his participation, stating:
“At 5 PM today, I will be addressing the AGM of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) being held at Bharat Mandapam. Leading stakeholders from the world of aviation are attending this meeting.”
According to IATA, the AGM and World Air Transport Summit (WATS), hosted by Indian carrier IndiGo, are being held from June 1–3. The summit gathers top global leaders from airlines, government bodies, and the broader aviation ecosystem to discuss pressing issues amid a complex operational and geopolitical climate.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi welcomed President Santiago Peña Palacios of Paraguay at Hyderabad House during the latter’s first State Visit to India. The Paraguayan President was given a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour at Palam Air Force Station, received warmly by Minister of State Harsh Vardhan Malhotra.
The visit aims to deepen bilateral relations across political, economic, and cultural domains. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared on X:
“Bienvenido, President @SantiPenap! … This visit will provide an opportunity to strengthen the relationship.”
President Peña’s visit, scheduled from June 2 to June 4, comes at a time of growing India-Latin America engagement, and is expected to pave the way for enhanced cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, and diplomacy.
