Attacks Arvind Kejriwal Over ‘Sheeshmahal’ Controversy, Takes Repeated Digs at Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi
New Delhi, February 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi during his reply to the motion of thanks on the President’s Address in Lok Sabha. His remarks came a day ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, where the BJP is looking to unseat AAP from power.
Targeting Kejriwal’s controversial residence renovation, PM Modi said, “While some people are focused on building jacuzzi and showers, we are ensuring tap water reaches every home in India.” He also mocked AAP as ‘AAPda’ (disaster) and criticized Kejriwal for misusing public funds for his luxurious ‘Sheeshmahal’ while failing to deliver on promises.
“Congress and AAP Have Failed the People”
PM Modi accused Congress of dynastic politics, pointing out that three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family are in Parliament. “For some, speaking about caste is fashion,” he said, referring to Rahul Gandhi’s caste census rhetoric, while asserting that the BJP granted constitutional status to the OBC Commission and expanded opportunities for SC, ST, and OBC communities.
Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi’s speech on foreign policy, PM Modi remarked, “Some people think they won’t appear mature if they don’t speak on foreign policy—even if it harms the country.” He recommended the book “JFK’s Forgotten Crisis” to help Rahul Gandhi understand India’s past diplomatic missteps under Jawaharlal Nehru.
PM Modi’s Sharpest Jibes at Opposition Leaders:
✔ AAP and Kejriwal’s ‘Sheeshmahal’: “Some build jacuzzi and showers, we bring tap water to every home.”
✔ Rahul Gandhi’s Foreign Policy Remarks: “Some speak on foreign policy just to appear mature—even if it harms the country.”
✔ Sonia Gandhi’s Comments on President Murmu: “A woman President, daughter of a poor family, is being insulted. I understand political frustration, but why insult the President?”
✔ Dynastic Politics in Congress: “Have there ever been three MPs from the same SC or ST family in Parliament?”
✔ BJP’s Economic Reforms vs Congress’s Failures: “Rajiv Gandhi said ₹1 sent from Delhi becomes 15 paise for the poor. We ensured ₹40 lakh crore reached directly through DBT.”
Defending BJP’s Governance and Economic Policies
PM Modi emphasized that his government is committed to the welfare of the middle class. “Before 2014, middle-class families faced tax burdens. Today, there is zero tax up to ₹12.75 lakh income.” He also defended BJP’s “Lakhpati Didi” scheme, stating that 1.25 crore women have already benefited, with a target of 3 crore women entrepreneurs.
Highlighting BJP’s electoral victories, he said, “We registered a grand victory in Haryana for the third time. In Maharashtra, we had historic results with people’s blessings.”
Delhi Elections and BJP’s Strategy
With Delhi voting on February 5, PM Modi’s aggressive speech signals BJP’s strategy of targeting AAP’s governance failures and corruption allegations. The results will be announced on February 8.
