Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held telephonic conversations with Haitham bin Tarik and Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, expressing concern over recent attacks in their countries amid the intensifying West Asia conflict.
According to officials, the Prime Minister discussed the evolving security situation and emphasized the safety and welfare of the large Indian community residing in both Oman and Kuwait. Nearly one crore Indians live and work across the Gulf region, making regional stability a key priority for New Delhi.
The outreach comes against the backdrop of the ongoing US-Israel offensive on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory strikes across the region. In recent days, Iran has launched drones and missiles targeting Israel, US military installations in the Gulf, and major regional hubs such as Dubai and Doha.
Diplomatic Outreach Across the Gulf
Over the past two days, PM Modi has intensified diplomatic engagement with West Asian leaders. He has spoken with:
- The King of Bahrain
- The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia
- Abdullah II
- Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan
- Benjamin Netanyahu
During these conversations, the Prime Minister condemned attacks violating sovereignty and territorial integrity and reiterated India’s solidarity with affected nations.
India has consistently called for restraint, dialogue, and de-escalation as tensions rise following the reported killing of Ali Khamenei during the coordinated strikes.
With energy supplies, trade routes, and the safety of millions of Indian nationals at stake, New Delhi continues to closely monitor the situation while maintaining active diplomatic engagement across the region.
