PM Modi Receives Brazil’s Highest Civilian Honour; Rajnath Singh and Yogi Adityanath Call It A Proud Moment For India

New Delhi [India], July 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with Brazil’s highest national civilian honour, The Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross, by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. This prestigious recognition highlights PM Modi’s growing global influence and India’s rising stature on the world stage.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Prime Minister in a post on X, stating,
“Congratulations to PM Shri @narendramodi Ji on being conferred with Brazil’s highest civilian honour, the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross. This prestigious recognition reflects his impactful global leadership and highlights the growing respect for India on the world stage. A proud and inspiring moment for our people.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended his congratulations, calling it a matter of pride for all Indians.
“This prestigious recognition reflects your visionary leadership and dedicated efforts in strengthening India-Brazil relations through trust, cooperation, and shared global goals,” he posted.

Prime Minister Modi was awarded the honour during his state visit to Brazil following his participation in the BRICS Summit. He received a warm ceremonial welcome at the Alvorada Palace in Brasilia, where he was greeted by President Lula da Silva and First Lady Janja Lula with a guard of honour.

During the welcome ceremony, the two leaders shared a light and culturally rich moment by enjoying a harmonium performance with traditional Indian instruments like the harmonium and tabla.

Randhir Jaiswal, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, shared,
“Broadening the horizons of the Strategic Partnership. PM @narendramodi warmly received by President @LulaOficial and First Lady @JanjaLula at the Alvorada Palace with a guard of honour & ceremonial welcome. Bilateral talks lie ahead.”

During the visit, PM Modi underlined the shared values between India and Brazil, especially on issues like global terrorism, emphasising a policy of “zero tolerance and zero double standards.” He also noted the deepening defence ties between the two nations as a symbol of mutual trust
