PM Modi Plants Sindoor Sapling On World Environment Day, Recalls Kutch’s Resilience And Growth

New Delhi [India], June 5 : On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a Sindoor sapling at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, in a symbolic gesture towards environmental conservation. The sapling was gifted to him by a group of women who had shown extraordinary bravery by helping rebuild the Bhuj airstrip during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Over 300 women from Bhuj had come together during the war to restore the Indian Air Force airstrip, enabling strategic military operations.

Recently, during his two-day visit to Gujarat from May 26, PM Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth more than Rs 82,950 crore in Dahod, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar.

While addressing a gathering, the Prime Minister extended his respects to the people of Kutch, acknowledging their unmatched resilience and contributions to India’s development. He paid tribute to freedom fighter Shyamji Krishna Varma, and revered Ashapura Mata, seeking her blessings for continued prosperity in the region.

PM Modi reflected emotionally on his personal connection with Kutch, recalling how the region shaped his life and values. He remembered his early visits before becoming the Chief Minister and spoke about the challenges Kutch faced in the past, particularly the 2001 earthquake, which devastated the area.

He also appreciated the determined spirit of Kutch’s farmers, highlighting how their perseverance helped rebuild the region. Recalling how the arrival of Narmada water was a turning point for the area, Modi noted, “Kutch has always shown the power of hope and tireless effort.”

“Today, Kutch is a leading hub of trade, commerce, and tourism,” the Prime Minister added, expressing optimism that the region’s influence and development will continue to grow.
