Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off a two-day visit to Gujarat today, beginning with a grand roadshow in Vadodara and a series of high-impact developmental inaugurations and foundation-laying ceremonies across Dahod, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar, collectively worth over ₹77,000 crore.
Day 1: Dahod and Bhuj – Infrastructure and Rail Push
🚄 Dahod – Boost to Railway Manufacturing
At around 11:15 AM in Dahod, PM Modi inaugurated the state-of-the-art Locomotive Manufacturing Plant of Indian Railways, which will produce 9000 HP electric locomotives for domestic use and exports.
- He flagged off the first electric locomotive from the facility.
- The locomotives feature regenerative braking systems and will enhance energy efficiency and freight capacity of Indian Railways.
He also unveiled development projects worth ₹24,000 crore, which include:
- Rail infrastructure upgrades
- Flagging off the Vande Bharat Express (Veraval-Ahmedabad) and a new Express train (Valsad-Dahod)
- Multiple Gujarat government projects aimed at regional upliftment
⚡ Bhuj – Powering India’s Renewable Future
Later at 4 PM, PM Modi traveled to Bhuj, where he launched projects worth ₹53,400 crore, with a special focus on renewable energy and connectivity:
- Transmission networks for the Khavda Renewable Energy Park
- A new ultra super critical thermal power unit in Tapi
- Upgrades to Kandla Port infrastructure
- Road, solar, and water supply initiatives by the Gujarat government
Day 2: Gandhinagar – Celebrating Urban Transformation
On May 27, the Prime Minister will reach Gandhinagar to participate in the celebration of 20 years of Gujarat’s Urban Growth Story.
- He will launch “Urban Development Year 2025” and address a gathering at around 11 AM.
Vadodara Roadshow – A Show of Support
Before heading to Dahod, PM Modi conducted a massive roadshow in Vadodara, with thousands lining the streets in a resounding show of support. The festive atmosphere marked the beginning of his Gujarat tour and reaffirmed his strong grassroots connection with the state.
