Bhuj (Gujarat) [India], May 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand welcome in Gujarat’s Dahod as he kicked off his two-day visit to the state on Monday. Amid chants and waving of the Tricolour, thousands gathered to greet the Prime Minister, who arrived to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for developmental projects worth over ₹24,000 crore.
The projects launched include key railway initiatives and state-led infrastructure projects. Among them is the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Locomotive Manufacturing Plant by Indian Railways in Dahod, which will produce 9000 HP electric locomotives for both domestic use and exports. The Prime Minister also flagged off the first electric locomotive manufactured at the plant, marking a significant boost in India’s railway freight capabilities.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel felicitated PM Modi with an idol of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Local women also presented him with handcrafted gifts, symbolizing regional pride and craftsmanship.
The Dahod event was emotionally charged, with strong support from women attendees. “Being a woman, I can say only a woman understands the value of Sindoor. Terrorists tried to destroy that, but our forces and PM Modi gave them a fitting reply through Operation Sindoor,” said Rina Panchal, a rally attendee.
Another BJP supporter added, “PM Modi shares a deep bond with Dahod. Around 2000 women came dressed in the same saree to welcome him. We salute PM Modi for Operation Sindoor.”
Later in the day, PM Modi traveled to Bhuj, where he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated additional projects totaling over ₹53,400 crore. These include major infrastructure, energy, and development works intended to strengthen Gujarat’s economic and logistical capacity.
As the town geared up for the Prime Minister’s arrival, posters and celebrations highlighted the recent military success of Operation Sindoor, an offensive carried out by Indian Armed Forces targeting terror camps across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan. The operation, based on multi-agency intelligence, successfully dismantled nine major terrorist camps.
“We live near the border and are grateful to our forces for Operation Sindoor. The atmosphere in Kachchh feels like Diwali. We pray to Maa Ashapura and Maa Momai to bless our brave security personnel,” said a local resident of Bhuj.
PM Modi’s visit underscores a blend of infrastructure development, national pride, and strong public support for recent military achievements, particularly Operation Sindoor, which continues to resonate emotionally across Gujarat.
