Nagpur (Maharashtra): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for its selfless humanitarian efforts, including disaster relief and public service initiatives. Speaking at an event in Nagpur, he acknowledged the unwavering commitment of RSS volunteers in times of natural disasters and mass gatherings like the Maha Kumbh.
📢 “Jahan seva kaarya, wahan swayamsevak” (Where there is service, there is an RSS volunteer), PM Modi said, commending their dedication.
RSS: The ‘Akshay Vat’ of India’s Cultural Legacy
Marking RSS’s centenary year, PM Modi likened the organization to a ‘vat vriksh’ (banyan tree) that has grown over a century, representing India’s immortal culture.
📢 “The ideas that were sown a hundred years ago have today grown into this ‘vat vriksh.’ The RSS is the modern ‘Akshay Vat’ of India’s immortal culture. This tree continues to energize our nation’s consciousness,” he stated.
The Prime Minister emphasized how India’s rich traditions—including Yoga and Ayurveda—have gained global recognition, despite historical attempts to diminish the country’s national conscience.
📢 “Our Yog and Ayurved have found new recognition worldwide. History shows that attempts were made to erase India’s cultural identity, but social movements like the Bhakti movement kept the spirit alive,” he added.
RSS’s Role in Public Welfare and Service
PM Modi highlighted RSS volunteers’ contributions to social initiatives like:
✅ Vanvasi Kalyan Ashrams
✅ Ekal Vidyalayas for tribal children
✅ Cultural awareness programs
✅ Seva Bharati’s support for the underprivileged
He specifically appreciated their service during natural disasters and the Netra Kumbh initiative at the Prayag Mahakumbh, where they assisted millions.
📢 “Seva is a sacrificial fire, and we burn like offerings, merging into the ocean of purpose,” he said.
Foundation Laid for Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre
During his visit, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre in Nagpur. He praised its service in restoring sight to millions and expressed hope that the new campus will expand its outreach.
He also marked the significance of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, celebrating festivals like Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Navreh, and honored the birth anniversaries of Bhagwan Jhulelal and Guru Angad Dev.
Additionally, PM Modi paid tribute to Dr. K. B. Hedgewar and M. S. Golwalkar at the Smruti Mandir and acknowledged the 75 years of the Indian Constitution, as well as the upcoming birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
PM Modi’s Concluding Message
Ending his address, PM Modi extended his greetings to citizens on Navratri and other festivals, emphasizing Nagpur’s role as a sacred center of service. He expressed confidence that initiatives like Madhav Netralaya will continue to bring light to countless lives.
