PM Modi Lauds President’s Address To Parliament, Highlights Vision For Youth Empowerment In India

New Delhi [India], January 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised President Droupadi Murmu’s joint address to Parliament, emphasizing her vision for an India where youth have the best opportunities to thrive. He called her speech inspiring and outlined a roadmap for achieving national goals through unity and determination, setting a clear path for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Her address encapsulated the vision for an India where youth have the best opportunities to flourish. It included inspiring roadmaps to achieve our goals with unity and determination.” He further added that the President’s speech highlighted key initiatives across sectors and underscored the importance of futuristic development for India’s progress.

However, the event was overshadowed by controversy when Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi made disparaging remarks about President Murmu’s address. She told reporters, “The President could hardly speak, poor thing. She was getting very tired by the end.”

The BJP swiftly condemned her comments as “elitist, anti-poor, and anti-tribal.” BJP President JP Nadda demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress Party, criticizing Gandhi’s remarks. “The deliberate usage of such words shows the elitist, anti-poor, and anti-tribal nature of the Congress Party,” he posted on X. BJP MP Sambit Patra also condemned Gandhi’s statement, stressing that President Murmu’s resilience was commendable.

In her address, President Murmu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to all-round development, emphasizing the goal of transforming India into a “Viksit Bharat” through a “Saturation Approach,” ensuring no one is left behind. She also highlighted strides made toward self-reliance in defense, underscoring India’s growing role in global defense manufacturing with the “Made in India” products now reaching global markets.

The Budget Session of Parliament began with President Murmu’s address, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey for 2024-25, outlining India’s projected growth. The session is set to continue until April 4, with the Union Budget to be presented on February 1.
