PM Modi Joins Neeraj Chopra & Himani Mor’s Wedding Reception

India’s javelin superstar Neeraj Chopra and his wife, Himani Mor Chopra, lit up the national capital on Saturday, December 27, 2025, with a magnificent wedding reception. The event served as a grand public celebration for the couple, who originally tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Shimla back in January 2025.

The Prime Minister’s Visit

The highlight of the evening was the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who graced the event to bless the newlyweds.

  • The Meeting: Prior to the reception, the couple visited the PM at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.
  • PM’s Message: “Met Neeraj Chopra and his wife, Himani Mor, at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg earlier today. We had a great interaction on various issues, including sports of course!” the PM posted on X, sharing a warm photo with the couple.
  • The Series: This was the second of three planned receptions, following a smaller gathering on December 26, as Neeraj takes a well-deserved break from his training schedule.

Meet the Bride: Himani Mor Chopra

While Neeraj has been the face of Indian athletics, his wife Himani is an accomplished athlete in her own right.

  • Tennis Pro: Himani, 25, is a former national-level tennis player from Sonipat, Haryana. She reached a career-best national ranking of 42 in singles and 27 in doubles in 2018.
  • Academic Excellence: An alumna of Delhi’s Miranda House, she recently completed her Master’s in Sports Management from McCormack Isenberg School of Management (USA) and worked as a graduate assistant coach at Amherst College.
  • Sporting Lineage: Her brother, Himanshu, is also a tennis player, and both her parents were kabaddi players, ensuring a deep sporting bond between the two families.

Neeraj’s 2025: Breaking the 90m Barrier

The reception caps off a landmark year for the “Golden Boy,” which saw him reach the most anticipated milestone of his career.

  • The 90m Club: On May 16, 2025, Neeraj scripted history at the Doha Diamond League by breaching the 90-meter mark for the first time, recording a massive 90.23m throw.
  • New Mentorship: The season marked his first year under the guidance of Czech legend Jan Železný, the world record holder.
  • Mixed Results: While he secured his personal best, Neeraj faced a tough title defense at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September, finishing eighth after struggling with a minor fitness niggle.
