Silvassa (Daman and Diu) [India], March 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth Rs 2,587 crore in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, during an event held in Silvassa. The projects include initiatives aimed at boosting infrastructure, healthcare, and public welfare in the region.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the first phase of the NAMO Hospital, a 450-bed facility built at a cost of over Rs 460 crore. This state-of-the-art hospital is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in the region, particularly benefiting tribal communities.
At the event, UT Dadra and Nagar Haveli Administrator Praful K Patel felicitated PM Modi in recognition of his contributions to the development of the region. Modi’s visit also marks a focus on improving connectivity and promoting industrial growth, tourism, and employment opportunities in the Union Territory.
The foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects was laid, including village roads, schools, health and wellness centers, Panchayat buildings, Anganwadi centers, and water supply and sewage infrastructure. These initiatives aim to enhance public services and improve the quality of life for residents.
In line with his focus on economic empowerment, PM Modi distributed appointment letters under Rozgar Mela and extended benefits under various welfare schemes, including the PM Awas Yojana-Urban, Gir Adarsh Aajeevika Yojana, and the Sylvan Didi scheme. The Gir Adarsh Aajeevika Yojana seeks to promote economic empowerment among women from marginalized communities through small dairy farming projects. The Sylvan Didi scheme aims to uplift women street vendors by providing them with aesthetically designed carts, co-funded by the PM SVANIDHI scheme.
Later in the day, PM Modi traveled to Surat, Gujarat, to launch the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign and disburse benefits under the National Food Security Act to approximately 2.3 lakh beneficiaries. He will also launch the Gujarat schemes for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods (G-SAFAL) and Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income (G-MAITRI). Both programs aim to boost rural livelihoods through financial assistance, training, and entrepreneurial support.
On March 8, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Navsari, Gujarat, where he will interact with Lakhpati Didis and launch several new schemes.
