Patna (Bihar): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the New Terminal Building of Jayprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna on Thursday evening, marking a significant step in enhancing air connectivity and infrastructure in Bihar.
He was joined at the event by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu.
The new terminal, constructed at a cost of approximately ₹1,200 crore, is designed to handle one crore passengers annually, offering a major upgrade to Patna’s air travel capacity and passenger experience.
Massive ₹48,520 Crore Development Push in Karakat on May 30
Prime Minister Modi is set to visit Karakat on May 30, where he will inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate multiple development projects worth over ₹48,520 crore.
Key Highlights of the Upcoming Projects:
🔋 Power Sector:
- Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II, 3×800 MW) in Aurangabad District
- Investment: ₹29,930 crore
- Objective: To ensure energy security for Bihar and eastern India
- Benefits: Boosts industrial growth, generates employment, and provides affordable electricity
🚧 Road Infrastructure Projects:
- Four-laning of Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section (NH-119A)
- Six-laning of Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata highway (NH-319B) and Ramnagar–Kacchi Dargah stretch (NH-119D)
- Construction of a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli
- Four-laning of Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section (NH-22)
- Cost: ₹5,520 crore
- Elevated highway and grade improvements at Gopalganj Town (NH-27)
These projects will develop high-speed corridors, improving trade, logistics, and regional connectivity in Bihar and neighboring states.
🚆 Rail Infrastructure:
- Third Rail Line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj
- Investment: ₹1,330 crore
- Aimed at strengthening railway capacity and boosting freight and passenger movement
