Amaravati witnessed a landmark moment on Friday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for infrastructure projects worth over ₹58,000 crore, marking what Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu hailed as the “restart” of Amaravati’s development.
Welcoming the Prime Minister, CM Naidu posted on X:
“Today is a proud and important day for the people of Andhra Pradesh. I warmly welcome Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Amaravati… This restart marks a new chapter of growth for our state.”
Highlights of the Prime Minister’s Visit:
✅ Seven National Highway Projects
These include widening key road sections, construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs), subways, and other enhancements. The projects aim to improve road safety and connect key religious and tourism hubs like Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Malakonda, and Udayagiri Fort.
✅ Railway Projects Dedicated to the Nation
These include the doubling of the rail line between Bugganapalle Cement Nagar and Panyam, and the construction of a third rail line between New West Block Hut Cabin and Vijayawada, aimed at enhancing connectivity between Rayalaseema and Amaravati.
✅ Foundation Laid for Amaravati’s Core Infrastructure
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for administrative buildings including the Legislative Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, and housing for 5,200+ families.
✅ Flood Mitigation and Urban Infrastructure
Projects worth ₹17,400 crore include a 320 km world-class transport network with underground utilities and advanced flood management systems, a major step toward making Amaravati a smart, resilient capital city.
A Symbolic Restart
This visit and the massive funding infusion signal a major pivot in Amaravati’s fate, which had faced prolonged delays and uncertainty in recent years. Naidu, who has long championed Amaravati as a “people’s capital,” emphasized that this revival aligns with the aspirations of the people.
