Amaravati witnessed a massive infrastructure boost on Friday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation stone, and dedicated development projects worth over ₹58,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh, spanning roads, railways, defence, and urban infrastructure.
PM Modi, accompanied by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, launched multiple National Highway and railway projects, key capital city infrastructure, and a Missile Test Range, all aimed at accelerating development in the region.
Road Connectivity: A Major Thrust
The Prime Minister inaugurated seven National Highway projects, including the widening of highways, construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs), subways, and elevated corridors. These are aimed at improving road safety, reducing congestion, and enhancing connectivity to Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Malakonda, and Udayagiri Fort, boosting both tourism and local economies.
He also laid the foundation for six additional NH projects and emphasized that the improved highway infrastructure will reduce travel time and boost logistics across state lines.
Railway Development: Linking Key Regions
Among the key railway projects, PM Modi dedicated the doubling of the Bugganapalle Cement Nagar–Panyam line, strengthening connectivity between Rayalaseema and Amaravati, and laid the foundation for the third rail line between New West Block Hut Cabin and Vijayawada.
A ‘Rail over Rail’ project between Guntakal West and Mallappa Gate was also launched to ease freight traffic and decongest Guntakal Junction—a key step in boosting logistics capacity in the region.
Capital City Infrastructure Projects
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for massive urban infrastructure in Amaravati worth ₹11,240 crore, including the Legislative Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, administrative buildings, and housing for 5,200 families.
In addition, trunk infrastructure and flood mitigation systems worth ₹17,400 crore will include a 320-km transport network, underground utilities, and advanced flood control mechanisms to support a modern, climate-resilient capital city.
Defence Boost: Missile Test Range at Nagayalanka
PM Modi launched the ₹1,460 crore Missile Test Range at Nagayalanka, which will include indigenous radar systems, telemetry, and electro-optical facilities—further strengthening India’s defence preparedness in the southern region.
PM Ekta Mall – Promoting Rural and Local Economies
Another key initiative was the foundation stone laying for the PM Ekta Mall at Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam. Aimed at promoting One District One Product (ODOP), Make in India, and empowering rural artisans, the Ekta Mall will serve as a national integration hub for indigenous goods and employment generation.
Speaking at the event, PM Modi said these projects symbolize “a new era of development and connectivity” for Andhra Pradesh. CM Naidu expressed gratitude, stating the projects would be “pivotal for the growth of Amaravati as a world-class capital.”
