PM Modi Highlights Government’s Commitment to Medical Education And Healthcare Reforms

Nagpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and medical education, ensuring that qualified doctors are accessible to people across India.

After laying the foundation stone of Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre in Nagpur, PM Modi emphasized the increase in medical institutions across the country.

📢 “We have not only doubled the number of medical colleges but also tripled the number of operational AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in the country. Additionally, the number of medical seats has also been doubled. Our goal is to serve the community by ensuring that qualified doctors are available to the people,” said PM Modi.

Medical Education in Regional Languages: A Bold Reform

PM Modi hailed the government’s landmark decision to introduce medical education in regional languages, a first since independence.

📢 “We made a bold decision to provide medical education in the students’ mother tongue, which ensures that even children from underprivileged backgrounds can pursue a career in medicine. It has happened for the first time after independence. The country is moving forward, blending modern medical knowledge with traditional wisdom. Our Yoga and Ayurveda are gaining recognition worldwide,” he said.

Strengthening Affordable Healthcare through Government Schemes

PM Modi highlighted various healthcare initiatives aimed at benefiting poor and middle-class families, such as:
Ayushman Bharat – Free medical treatment for crores of Indians.
Jan Ausadhi Kendras – Providing low-cost medicines across the country.
Dialysis Centers – Over 1,000 centers offering free dialysis treatment.
Ayushman Arogya Mandir – Lakhs of new healthcare centers in villages providing primary treatment and doctor consultations.

📢 “In the last 10 years, lakhs of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been opened in villages, ensuring people do not have to travel 1000 km for medical check-ups,” PM Modi added.

Inauguration of Madhav Netralaya: Strengthening Eye Care Services

As he inaugurated Madhav Netralaya, PM Modi praised its service to millions over the years and emphasized the government’s focus on quality healthcare.

📢 “Madhav Netralaya has been serving lakhs of people for decades, inspired by Guruji (MS Golwalkar). With the new premises, this noble initiative will gain further momentum,” he said.

Festive Greetings and Tribute to National Icons

PM Modi extended greetings on Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Navreh, and Hindu Nav Varsh while paying tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Guru Angad Dev Ji.

📢 “I visited Smriti Mandir and Deekshabhoomi to pay homage to revered Dr. Saheb and Guruji. This year marks 75 years of our Constitution and the centenary of the RSS,” he noted.

PM Modi’s visit to Nagpur underscored the government’s continued efforts to reform medical education, promote accessible healthcare, and honor India’s rich cultural and historical legacy.
