India celebrates 76th Republic Day with grandeur, cultural unity, and military prowess at Kartavya Path.
New Delhi, January 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt wishes to the nation on the occasion of India’s 76th Republic Day, emphasizing the importance of upholding the ideals of the Constitution.
“Happy Republic Day. Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity, and unity,” PM Modi shared on X. He further encouraged collective efforts towards a prosperous and stronger India.
A Grand Celebration at Kartavya Path
India marks this Republic Day with an elaborate parade showcasing its rich cultural diversity, unity, and military might. President Droupadi Murmu will lead the celebrations, while Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto graces the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Around 10,000 Special Guests, including distinguished achievers and beneficiaries of government schemes, have been invited, emphasizing ‘Jan Bhagidari’ in national events.
Parade Highlights
- Tri-Services Tableau: A first-ever display emphasizing jointness among armed forces under the theme ‘Shashakt aur Surakshit Bharat.’
- Mechanized Columns and Marching Units: Featuring nine mechanized columns and contingents from regiments such as The Jat Regiment, The Garhwal Rifles, and The Jammu & Kashmir Rifles Regiment.
- Fly-Past: A thrilling display by 40 aircraft, including Rafale, Su-30, Jaguar, Apache helicopters, and more.
The parade will begin with Prime Minister Modi paying homage at the National War Memorial. Parade Commander Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar will lead the event, with Major General Sumit Mehta as Second-in-Command.
The President’s Bodyguard will escort President Murmu and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in a traditional buggy. The National Flag will be unfurled, followed by the National Anthem and a 21-gun salute using indigenous 105-mm Light Field Guns.
Gallantry Awards and International Participation
Param Vir Chakra awardees Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retd.) and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar (Retd.), along with Ashok Chakra winner Lt Col Jas Ram Singh (Retd.), will be honored.
The Indonesian Military Academy’s Marching Contingent and 190-member band will symbolize strong ties between the nations.
