On Vijaya Dashmi (Dussehra), Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh both sent their best wishes. They both stressed the festival’s main message: that virtue would always win over evil.
The Message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi
PM Modi wrote on X to say that Vijaya Dashami celebrates the “victory of good and righteousness over evil and falsehood.” He wished his fellow Indians a happy Vijaya Dashami and said that “courage, wisdom, and devotion should always guide our paths.”
Dussehra, also known as Vijaya Dashmi, is a big Hindu holiday that falls on the tenth day of Navratri. It mostly celebrates Lord Rama’s victory over the evil king Ravana and Goddess Durga’s victory over the demon Mahishasura. Both of these victories show that good will always win in the end.
Rajnath Singh, the Minister of Defense, Celebrates with Soldiers
The Indian Army men at the military post in Bhuj, Gujarat, celebrated Dussehra alongside Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. This showed how martial and auspicious the celebration is.
Singh went to the front lines to talk to the Armed Forces Personnel. He said he was “lucky” to celebrate Dussehra with his “family members,” the military.
Importance: He told the staff again how important the event was: “Today is a symbol of the victory of good over evil, right over wrong, and truth over falsehood.”
Rituals: Singh was also supposed to do Shastra Puja (worship of weapons) at the Bhuj Military Base. This is a ritual that goes along with the military and martial atmosphere of the festival.
