PM Modi Engages In Traditional Folk Dance At Mukhwa, Flags Off Trek And Bike Rally In Uttarakhand

Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand) [India]: His interaction highlighted his deep appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.

During his visit, PM Modi also flagged off a trek and bike rally in Harsil, Uttarakhand, alongside Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The rally is part of ongoing efforts to promote tourism in the state.

CM Dhami’s Remarks

Chief Minister Dhami emphasized the significance of the Prime Minister’s visit in bringing global attention to Mukhimath (Mukhwa), enhancing the cultural and religious heritage of Uttarakhand.

“We are all proud to witness this historic moment in Mukhwa. On behalf of all the people of the state, a hearty welcome and congratulations to the illustrious Prime Minister on his winter visit to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand,” CM Dhami said.

PM Modi’s Vision for Uttarakhand Tourism

Ahead of his visit, PM Modi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to boosting Uttarakhand’s economy by promoting tourism. In a post on ‘X’, he stated:
“We are committed to further strengthening the economy of the state by promoting tourism in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. In this connection, I will get the opportunity to worship Maa Ganga in Mukhwa tomorrow morning at around 9:30 am. After this, I will communicate with my family members in Harshil.”

Excitement for Mukhwa Temple Visit

The Prime Minister also expressed his excitement about visiting the Mukhwa temple, known for its spiritual significance and breathtaking beauty. He described the site as a symbol of India’s resolve for “heritage as well as development”.

“I am very excited to visit the winter residence of the pure and pure Mother Ganga in Mukhwa. This holy place is famous all over the world for its spiritual significance and amazing beauty,” he stated.

Winter Tourism Initiative

The Uttarakhand government has launched a Winter Tourism programme this year to promote religious tourism and strengthen the local economy through homestays and tourism businesses. Thousands of devotees have already visited the winter seats of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath as part of the initiative.

The program aims to transform Uttarakhand into a year-round tourism destination, showcasing the state’s cultural, religious, and natural heritage.
