New Delhi (India), February 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took aim at the Congress party on Thursday during his response to the motion of thanks to the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha. He claimed that expecting the Congress to embrace the principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (Together with All, Development for All) would be a grave mistake.
The Prime Minister praised the President’s speech as inspirational, effective, and a clear guide for the future. Modi emphasized that he could not understand what the problem was with the concept of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ pointing out that it was a vision for the nation’s growth.
However, he quickly turned his attention to Congress, stating, “Expecting ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ from Congress will be a huge mistake. It is beyond their thinking and doesn’t fit their roadmap, as the entire party is devoted to one family.”
Modi further criticized the Congress for what he described as its political model based on “lies, corruption, family, and appeasement.” “In the Congress model, the first priority is always Family First,” he asserted.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the party’s failure to address long-standing demands from OBC (Other Backward Classes) MPs for constitutional status for the OBC Panel, which he claimed Congress rejected for political reasons. Modi pointed out that unlike Congress, his government granted constitutional status to the panel, benefiting the OBC community.
He went on to stress that after 2014, India adopted a new model of governance focused on satisfaction rather than appeasement, which he claimed was evident in the policies and actions of his government.
The debate on the motion of thanks in the Rajya Sabha saw over 70 members participate, with PM Modi also replying to the debate in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
