PM Modi: Constitution A Guiding Light For India, Driving Transformation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the enduring relevance and transformative power of the Indian Constitution during the Constitution Day celebrations at the Supreme Court. He emphasized how the Constitution has met the country’s expectations and serves as a guiding light for India’s ongoing transformation.

PM Modi’s Address

“Our Constitution has lived up to every expectation and need of the country,” PM Modi remarked.
Reflecting on its implementation in Jammu and Kashmir, he said, “It’s due to the power of the Constitution that, today, the Constitution of Baba Saheb has been implemented completely in Jammu and Kashmir. For the first time, the Constitution Day was celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir.”

He added:
“Today, India is going through a huge phase of transformation, and the Constitution of India is showing us the path. It has become a guiding light for us.”

Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, PM Modi noted, “Constitution is not a mere lawyer’s document. Its spirit is always the spirit of age.”

Tribute to 26/11 Mumbai Attack Victims

Marking the 15th anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, PM Modi paid homage to the victims and reiterated India’s commitment to combating terrorism.
“We cannot forget that today is also the anniversary of the terror attack in Mumbai. Those who lost their lives, I pay my homage to them. I also want to reiterate the resolution of the country – all those terrorist organisations challenging the security of India will get a befitting reply,” he asserted.

  • Presentation of Painting: Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna presented a painting created by a Tihar jail inmate to PM Modi.
  • Judiciary Report Release: PM Modi unveiled the Annual Report of Indian Judiciary 2023-24, commemorating the occasion.

Constitution Day Significance

Celebrated annually on November 26, Constitution Day marks the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949. This year holds special significance as it coincides with the 75th year of the Constitution’s enactment.
