Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences over the tragic fire incident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, which claimed the lives of at least seven people and left several others injured.
The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those injured in the incident.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected. An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given ₹50,000.”
Details of the Incident
On Friday morning, a truck carrying chemicals collided with an LPG tanker and other vehicles on the Jaipur-Ajmer route, resulting in a massive fire.
Dr. Sushil Kumar Bhati, Superintendent of SMS Hospital, reported that seven people have died, and ten to twelve others sustained injuries, with over 60% of the victims suffering burns. Currently, 28 patients are admitted, with six in critical condition and on ventilators.
State Response
Rajasthan Chief Minister BhajanLal Sharma visited the site of the Bhankrota fire and announced the establishment of a helpline to assist affected families. He also assured that all necessary arrangements were being made to provide medical treatment for the injured.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar described the accident, stating, “A horrific accident and fire occurred in the Bhankrota area of Jaipur early today on the main Ajmer Road. Nearly two dozen vehicles caught fire, and many trucks and trolleys were burnt to ashes. The accident took place near a petrol pump, and efforts are underway to extinguish the fire.”
The collision triggered a series of crashes, leading to the blaze. Emergency responders and firefighters have been working to control the situation and minimize further damage.
