PM Modi Calls On Citizens To Exercise Their Right To Vote, Applauds ECI For Strengthening Electoral Process

New Delhi, January 19: In the first episode of Mann Ki Baat for 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to citizens to actively participate in India’s democratic process by exercising their right to vote. He highlighted the significance of January 25, which marks ‘National Voters’ Day,’ celebrating the establishment of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

PM Modi praised the Election Commission for its efforts in modernizing and strengthening the voting process, emphasizing how technology has empowered citizens. He stated, “The Election Commission has consistently modernized our voting system, ensuring fair elections and giving more power to the people.”

He urged the public to vote in large numbers, underscoring the importance of their involvement in strengthening the democratic process. “I encourage all citizens to exercise their right to vote and actively participate in democracy,” he added.

As the nation prepares for Republic Day celebrations, PM Modi also extended his advance greetings to the people of India. He described this year’s Republic Day as particularly special, marking the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution’s enactment. “I salute the visionaries of the Constituent Assembly who gave us this sacred Constitution,” he said.

Reflecting on the Constituent Assembly debates, PM Modi shared audio clips of prominent figures like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee. These clips highlighted their contributions to India’s democratic ethos, including calls for unity, human values, and equal opportunities.

Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi’s monthly radio program, airs on the last Sunday of each month. However, due to Republic Day, this episode was broadcast a week earlier. Launched on October 3, 2014, Mann Ki Baat connects with people across India and abroad, broadcasting in 22 Indian languages, 29 dialects, and 11 foreign languages, reaching audiences in more than 500 All India Radio centers.
