New Delhi [India], February 28: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, emphasized that design is not just about aesthetics but an innovation with a profound impact on India’s legacy and future development. He made these remarks during his address at the 44th Convocation Ceremony of the National Institute of Design (NID) on Thursday.
Goyal stated that the new graduates from NID will serve as a bridge between the country’s historical legacy and its future. He praised the role of design in various sectors, from space missions to gaming and sustainability, highlighting how the design of the Chandrayaan space mission was integral to its success.
Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Design in India’, Goyal expressed confidence that these fresh graduates, as problem-solvers and innovators, will contribute significantly to realizing this vision on a global scale. “You will be the architect of the world, the world is waiting for you,” he said.
The Minister also noted that the possibilities in design are limitless, urging the graduates to create new ideas and innovations that cater to India’s 1.4 billion people. “Inclusive growth and development is our country’s will and strength. Create, disrupt, and leave a mark in the world with your capabilities,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished figures, including the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada, and other Governing Council Members.
In total, 430 students from various disciplines received their degrees during the 44th convocation, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey at NID.
