Phil Robertson, Star Of ‘Duck Dynasty,’ Passes Away At 79

Washington [US], May 26: Phil Robertson, the iconic figure from A\&E’s hit reality show Duck Dynasty, has died at the age of 79. The news was confirmed by his family in a heartfelt statement shared on social media Sunday evening.

Robertson, affectionately known as the “Duck Commander,” had been battling Alzheimer’s disease since his diagnosis in December of last year.

In their statement, the family wrote, “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, ‘you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.’”

They continued, “Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus. We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”

A private service is being held for the family, with plans for a public celebration to be announced soon.

Robertson’s son, Jase, previously spoke about his father’s health on the family’s podcast, revealing that Phil was enduring a serious blood disease and pain but remained committed to sharing his faith.

Phil Robertson rose to fame with the 2012 debut of Duck Dynasty, which followed the lives of the Robertson family and their Louisiana-based company, Duck Commander. The business, known for selling duck calls and hunting gear, was central to the show’s 11-season run, which concluded in 2017. The reality series became one of cable television’s most-watched programs.

In addition to his television career, Robertson was also an author. His memoir Happy, Happy, Happy was published in 2013. Prior to fame, he attended Louisiana Tech University on a football scholarship and later earned a master’s degree in education.

Robertson married his wife, Marsha Kay, in 1966. He is survived by her, their children, grandchildren, and extended family.
