Washington [US], December 26: Netflix’s popular political thriller The Night Agent is returning for an explosive second season, with a brand-new trailer promising even more intense action and suspense. Gabriel Basso reprises his role as Peter Sutherland, the Night Action agent who is once again thrust into a dangerous web of conspiracies.
The newly released trailer teases a high-octane season, as Peter navigates a deadly new threat in the heart of New York City. The action-packed preview showcases Peter in fast-paced chases, daring stunts, intense gunfights, and brutal hand-to-hand combat. Alongside Peter, fans will see familiar faces from Season 1, including Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), the cybersecurity expert Peter protected, and President Michelle Travers (Kari Matchett), whom they saved from peril.
Season 2 introduces Catherine Weaver (Amanda Warren), Peter’s new superior in the Night Action division. Tensions run high between them, especially in a scene where Peter, faced with a gunpoint standoff, declares, “I’m doing this myself. Shoot me or get out of my way.”
With New York and Thailand serving as the primary filming locations, the season will feature the city’s iconic skyline and streets as essential elements in its high-stakes narrative. The trailer hints at a looming national security crisis, as Peter uncovers a mole selling American intelligence and a massive weapons heist threatening the safety of Manhattan.
Season 2 also adds a host of new characters, including Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Brittany Snow, and Teddy Sears, joining the already thrilling cast. Based on Matthew Quirk’s bestselling novel, The Night Agent is created by Shawn Ryan and executive produced by him under his MiddKid Productions banner, along with David Beaubaire, Seth Gordon, and Julia Gunn.
Following the success of the first season, The Night Agent has already been renewed for a third season, which is currently filming in Istanbul and will continue in New York in 2025. The Night Agent season 2 will be available for streaming on Netflix starting January 23, 2025.
