Prabhsimran smashes 83 off 49 balls against KKR as Punjab Kings’ clash at Eden Gardens ends in rain-forced no result.
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 27:
Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Prabhsimran Singh achieved a major milestone by completing 1,000 runs in his Indian Premier League (IPL) career during the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Saturday.
Prabhsimran delivered a spectacular performance, scoring 83 runs off 49 balls, including six fours and six towering sixes at a blistering strike rate of 169.39. His innings was a tale of two phases: a cautious start with 34 runs off his first 32 balls (strike rate 106.25), followed by an explosive 49 runs off just 17 balls (strike rate 288.23).
In IPL 2024, Prabhsimran has amassed 292 runs in nine innings at an average of 32.44, with two half-centuries, striking at an impressive 168.78. His highest score of the season so far remains 83.
Across his IPL career spanning 43 matches, Prabhsimran has scored 1,048 runs at an average of 24.37 and a strike rate of 151.88, including a century and five fifties. His career-best remains 103, achieved during the 2023 season — his best season statistically, where he collected 358 runs at a strike rate of 150.42.
Saturday’s game saw PBKS post 201/4, powered by a strong 120-run opening stand between Prabhsimran and Priyansh Arya. Unfortunately, rain interrupted the match early in KKR’s chase, with the hosts at 7/0 after one over, leading to a no result.
As a result, both teams shared a point each. PBKS now sit fourth on the points table with 11 points (five wins, three losses, one no result), while KKR hold the seventh position with seven points.
