New Delhi: A public feud has erupted between actors Alia Bhatt and Payal Rohatgi over the issue of celebrity privacy. The controversy began after videos of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s under-construction home in Bandra were filmed and circulated online without their consent.
On Tuesday, Alia Bhatt took to social media to issue a strong statement, condemning the act as a “clear invasion of privacy” and a “serious security issue.” She urged media publications and digital platforms to delete the videos and refrain from sharing such content, arguing that filming someone’s private residence without permission is a violation that should not be normalized.
However, actress Payal Rohatgi openly disagreed with Alia’s stance. In a post on her own Instagram account, Rohatgi took a dig at Bhatt, dismissing her claims and stating that filming a house from a public space is not an invasion of privacy. “That does not come under invasion of privacy. Your sexual act with your husband or another man comes under the invasion of privacy,” she wrote. Rohatgi further advised Alia to “get herself security and cameras as you can afford them” but urged her to “use rationale.” She also compared the situation to social media influencers filming in public spaces where houses are often visible in the background.
Rohatgi’s remarks were met with a strong backlash online. Social media users and fans of Alia Bhatt were quick to criticize her comments, calling them “distasteful” and “rubbish.” Many pointed out that Rohatgi’s statement appeared to be an attempt to gain relevance by attacking a more popular celebrity.
Alia and Ranbir’s luxury multi-storey home, valued at around ₹250 crore, is still under construction. The couple, along with their daughter Raha, are expected to move into the property once it is completed.
