In response to concerning reports that some students were unable to appear for the JEE exam in the Pendurthi area of Visakhapatnam, allegedly due to traffic delays caused by his convoy, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has ordered a thorough investigation, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
The statement emphasized Kalyan’s commitment to ensuring public convenience, especially during his tours.
“How long was the traffic stopped for the convoy? What was the traffic situation on the routes where the students had to reach the exam center at that time? Was any traffic control done on the service roads?” — the CMO release queried.
The Deputy Chief Minister has instructed the Visakhapatnam police to conduct an immediate inquiry into the matter to determine the facts and any possible lapses in traffic management.
Highlighting the coalition government’s policy, the statement further noted:
“Traffic must only be regulated for a short period during visits of the Chief Ministers. Even during helicopter visits, no traffic is stopped nor are trees cut down.”
The statement clarified that strict instructions had already been issued to party leaders to avoid public inconveniences during official programs — including banning crane garlands and processions that could lead to road blockages.
“Party leaders are instructed before every visit to avoid disruptions. The same discipline was maintained during this visit as well,” it said.
This incident comes at a time when JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is a critical gateway for students aiming to enter prestigious engineering institutions, and any delays in reaching exam centers can have serious consequences.
The Deputy CM’s swift response indicates the government’s attempt to prioritize accountability and minimize disruption to public life, especially for students facing such crucial academic milestones.
