New Delhi — Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) signed off their IPL 2025 league campaign in explosive fashion, thrashing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a massive 110 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Despite the commanding win, SRH skipper Pat Cummins expressed disappointment at falling short of a playoff berth, given the quality in the squad.
“Amazing finish. The last few games of the season, lots of things clicked, and it was scary to watch that kind of batting,” Cummins said post-match. “With the calibre of the players we have, we should be making the finals. This year, we didn’t.”
Cummins praised the final game’s batting explosion but pointed to the team’s inconsistency across conditions as a reason for their underwhelming season.
“We get wickets like here, we got to max out and get 250-260 and other ones where we need to graft and get to 170, which we didn’t,” he admitted.
🏏 SRH Batting Blasts KKR Away
SRH’s batters put up a brutal display after electing to bat first. A fiery 76 from Travis Head and a record-breaking 37-ball hundred from Heinrich Klaasen (105)* powered them to 278/3 — the third-highest total in IPL history.
💥 KKR Fall Apart in Chase
In response, KKR faltered despite a brisk start. Sunil Narine (31 off 16) was the only top-order batter to fire. The rest crumbled under relentless pressure from SRH’s bowling trio — Jaydev Unadkat (3/24), Eshan Malinga (3/31), and Harsh Dubey (3/34) — as KKR folded for 168 in 18.4 overs.
📉 Season Wrap
- KKR: Ended 8th with 5 wins, 7 losses, and 1 no result
- SRH: Climbed to 6th with 6 wins, 7 losses, and 1 no result
Though SRH may have left their playoff run too late, Cummins’ closing remarks hint at a promising core ready to bounce back stronger next season.
