Russia, Moscow – Russian air traffic control said they lost communication with an An-24 passenger plane carrying about 50 people in the eastern Amur area of the nation. Reuters reported the worrying news, which came from Russian news sources Interfax and SHOT.
SHOT says that the plane, which was run by Angara airline, was on a planned route to Tynda, a village in the Amur region that borders China.
Authorities think the plane lost touch when it was only a few kilometers from where it was supposed to land. The rapid loss of radar contact has led to an immediate response, but the full details of the search and rescue efforts have not yet been made public. The Soviet Union developed the An-24, a passenger plane with two turboprop engines.
As search and investigative efforts begin in the distant Amur region, further news is expected.
