Parvesh Verma Hits Back At AAP, Claims Arvind Kejriwal Signaled Him To Keep Driving

New Delhi, January 19: BJP candidate Parvesh Verma has strongly refuted allegations from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding an attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s convoy.

At a press conference on Sunday, Verma addressed AAP’s claims that he orchestrated an attack on Kejriwal, accusing the BJP of involvement. Verma denied these accusations, offering his own version of the incident. He stated, “The car carrying Arvind Kejriwal hit three people. The three individuals have given a statement saying that despite the driver applying the brakes, Kejriwal signaled to continue driving, and that’s when they were injured.” Verma added that the incident had been reported to the Election Commission.

Verma further dismissed AAP’s suggestion that one of the individuals involved was a close associate of his, calling it baseless. “All 1.09 lakh voters in the New Delhi constituency are my acquaintances,” he said. He also criticized Kejriwal’s frustration, suggesting that the incident occurred due to Kejriwal’s disappointing campaign response, saying, “Despite being Chief Minister for 11 years, he still resorts to door-to-door campaigning. When the youth questioned him about employment, he hit them with his car.”

Earlier, AAP had shared a video on social media alleging that BJP “goons” threw stones at Kejriwal’s car, prompting Verma to call these allegations “false.” He added that Kejriwal’s security—comprising 50 cars and 400 Punjab police officers—should have prevented such an incident, questioning how it occurred under such heavy protection.

Verma also took aim at Kejriwal’s governance, criticizing his unfulfilled promises, including the delivery of a “clean Delhi,” better safety for women, and improvements in public transport. “The mountains of trash remain, and the promised 15,000 buses have not materialized, leaving women with no choice but to rely on taxis or walk alone at night,” he said. He also pointed to the failure of housing schemes and the lack of essential services in unauthorized colonies.

In response to AAP’s accusations, Verma remarked, “Kejriwal, who once promised not to take a car, bungalow, or security, now has a convoy of 50 cars. He’s attacking his own voters by calling them ‘goons.’”

On the alleged attack, AAP claimed that BJP supporters threw stones at Kejriwal’s car during his campaign, attempting to disrupt his work. AAP’s statement read, “Fearing defeat, BJP got its goons to attack Arvind Kejriwal, but the people of Delhi will give a befitting reply.”

The political confrontation between the BJP and AAP continues to intensify ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5, with votes to be counted on February 8.
