Indian cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana’s long-speculated relationship with music director and filmmaker Palash Muchhal has received a strong hint of confirmation, with Muchhal declaring the star batter will soon be “the daughter-in-law of Indore.”
Muchhal, who hails from the city, made the remark on Friday during an event at the State Press Club, fueling intense media speculation about an impending marriage between the two.
The ‘Headline’ Announcement
When questioned by reporters about his bond with the opening batswoman and his memories of her, the 30-year-old music director offered a cryptic but significant statement.
“She will soon become the daughter-in-law of Indore… that’s all I want to say,” Muchhal told the press, before quipping to reporters, “I’ve given you the headline.”
While Mandhana and Muchhal have frequently been seen together in social media photos, neither has publicly confirmed their relationship status until now.
Mandhana is currently in Indore as the vice-captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, which is set to face England in a crucial ICC Women’s World Cup ODI match this Sunday.
Muchhal, known for composing music for Bollywood films alongside his singer sister Palak Muchhal, extended his best wishes to the team. “My best wishes are with Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti (Mandhana). We always want the Indian cricket team to win every match and bring glory to the country,” he said.
The music director is presently engaged with his directorial project, Raju Bajewala, which stars Avika Gor and Panchayat fame Chandan Roy.
