Musician Palash Muchhal has broken his silence following the cancellation of his wedding to cricketer Smriti Mandhana, confirming the split and strongly refuting the “baseless rumours” that have circulated on social media, specifically addressing allegations of infidelity.
In a statement posted on his Instagram Stories on Sunday, shortly after Mandhana’s announcement, Muchhal confirmed his decision to move forward, while warning that his team would initiate strict legal action against those spreading false and defamatory content.
Muchhal Addresses Cheating Allegations
Muchhal’s statement was a direct response to widespread online speculation suggesting his alleged infidelity was the cause of the wedding being called off.
“It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me. It’s the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully, holding on to my beliefs.”

He also urged the public to exercise caution before jumping to conclusions based on unverified information. “I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip whose sources are never identified. Our words can wound in ways we may never understand.”
Decision to ‘Step Back’
Muchhal confirmed the decision to end the relationship, aligning with Mandhana’s request for privacy.
“I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship,” Palash wrote.
The wedding, which was set to take place in Sangli, was originally postponed after a sudden medical emergency involving Mandhana’s father. However, the subsequent social media buzz and circulating rumours quickly shifted the narrative.
With both Mandhana and Muchhal now having issued statements, they have simultaneously confirmed the end of their relationship and requested privacy as they navigate this personal chapter.
