Pakistan Spy Ring Busted in Haryana: Two Arrested in Nuh, Embassy Staff Named in Espionage Case

New Delhi [India], May 19: Intelligence agencies have uncovered another suspected Pakistani espionage network, leading to the arrest of a second individual in as many days in Haryana’s Nuh district. The latest arrest involves Mohammad Tarif, a resident of Kangarka village under Taoru police station, who is accused of spying for Pakistan.

According to officials, Tarif was allegedly in contact with officials from the Pakistan High Commission and had been actively gathering and transmitting sensitive information. A case has been registered against Tarif along with two Pakistani embassy staffers—Asif Baloch and Jafar—under sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Official Secrets Act of 1923, and sedition.

Police have seized a mobile phone from the accused and presented him before the court, which remanded him to police custody for further interrogation.

This arrest follows the earlier apprehension of Armaan, another Nuh resident, who was picked up two days ago under similar charges. Both cases are reportedly connected, with investigators probing a wider espionage network operating in the region.

In a video confession, Tarif admitted to having visited Pakistan multiple times and cooperating with Pakistani officials. He revealed that in 2018, a Pakistani officer at the embassy solicited SIM cards in exchange for granting him a visa.

“I went to the Pakistan Embassy in 2018 for my visa. A Pakistani officer interviewed me, took my number, and called later asking for two new SIMs. I gave them and got the visa,” Tarif said.

He added that he later referred 8-10 individuals seeking Pakistani visas to the same officer, splitting the money received. In 2024, Tarif claimed he was introduced to another officer, Jafar, who allegedly asked him to photograph and film sensitive sites like the Sirsa airbase in exchange for payment in lakhs.

This development follows the arrest of other individuals across Haryana—including Jyoti Malhotra from Hisar—on charges of sharing classified information with Pakistani operatives.

Authorities are intensifying efforts to dismantle the network and assess the extent of the security breach.
