Pakistani security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by Khwarij terrorists near the Pak-Afghan border, eliminating 16 militants in a swift counter-operation, ARY News reported, citing the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Border Clash in North Waziristan
The attempted incursion took place in Ghulam Khan Kaley, North Waziristan, where terrorists tried to cross into Pakistani territory but were intercepted. According to ISPR, the military’s quick response prevented any breach of the border.
The statement reaffirmed Pakistan’s demand for the Afghan interim government to ensure that Afghan soil is not used for terrorism against Pakistan. Islamabad expects Kabul to fulfill its responsibilities and take decisive action against cross-border militancy.
Terrorist Attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, police repelled an armed attack on the Pezo police station. The attackers attempted to storm the facility but were effectively countered by security personnel, forcing them to retreat. No casualties were reported among security forces.
Additionally, security forces thwarted an assault on the Lakhani border post, marking the second such attempt within 24 hours and the third major incident in a week.
Reports indicate that 20-25 heavily armed terrorists equipped with rocket launchers launched the attack. However, thermal imaging cameras allowed security personnel to detect and retaliate, preventing significant damage.
