Pakistan Player Fined for Misbehaving With Hotel Staff During T20 World Cup 2026

A controversy has surfaced involving the Pakistan national cricket team during the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. An unnamed Pakistani player was reportedly fined after allegedly misbehaving with a female hotel staff member at the team’s accommodation in Kandy.

Incident at Team Hotel

According to reports, the incident took place shortly before Pakistan’s final Super Eight match against the Sri Lanka national cricket team. The player’s alleged behaviour made the housekeeping staff member uncomfortable, prompting her to call for assistance from other hotel employees.

Hotel staff intervened and later informed Pakistan team manager Navaid Cheema about the situation.

Player Fined, Team Issues Apology

Although hotel authorities reportedly demanded strict action, the matter was handled internally by team management. The player was fined for his behaviour, while Cheema apologised to the hotel staff on behalf of the team.

The identity of the player has not been publicly disclosed. However, reports suggest that the incident is being discussed within the Pakistan Cricket Board, and the player could face further disciplinary review.

Adds to Pakistan’s World Cup Troubles

The controversy comes amid a disappointing campaign for Pakistan in the tournament. Despite defeating Sri Lanka by five runs in their final Super Eight match, the team failed to qualify for the semifinals.

The latest episode has again raised concerns about discipline and conduct within the team during international tours.
