Pakistan Fires At LOC, India Retaliates With 20 Rounds Ahead of Asia Cup Clash

There has been more tension along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district since Indian and Pakistani troops recently fired on each other. The gunfire in the Nowgam region was started by Pakistani troops.

The paper got word from the army that there was small arms fire during the event, but it didn’t turn into a ceasefire violation. Reports suggest that four bullets came from Pakistan, and Indian troops fired back with about twenty gunfire. There were no deaths on either side during the brief exchange.

The Indian Army foiled an attempt to breach the Line of Control (LoC) in the Balakot area of Poonch district just a few weeks ago, on September 1. The army reported at the time that its troops noticed suspicious movement and opened fire, which prevented the infiltration.

The LoC has generally been quiet since the ceasefire agreement in February 2021. There are still reports of gunshots over the border and attempts to cross the line, though. Army sources said that the situation in Nowgam is still under control and being followed closely. Surveillance and patrols in the area have been beefed up to stop any future break-ins.
