Dubai [UAE], April 22: Players from Pakistan and Bangladesh have made significant gains in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, following their standout performances during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025. Both teams secured their place in the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup by finishing in the top two at the Qualifier, held earlier this year.
Bangladesh’s left-arm spinner Nahida Akter rose two spots to break into the top 10 of the ODI bowling rankings, achieving a career-best rating after taking six wickets during the tournament.
Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal also reached a new career-high, climbing five spots to 17th after a nine-wicket haul in the Qualifier. Her fellow bowlers, Fatima Sana and Diana Baig, also made gains—Sana jumped five places to equal 27th, while Baig moved up three spots to 35th.
West Indies star Hayley Matthews retained her ninth-place ranking among ODI bowlers after finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the Qualifier with 13 wickets. Her teammates Afy Fletcher (up three places to 21st) and Karishma Ramharack (up five spots to 25th) also improved their standings.
Matthews’ all-round performance also boosted her batting ranking—she moved up two spots to fifth overall, having scored 240 runs in the tournament. Ireland’s Gaby Lewis (up five places to 17th) and Pakistan’s Sidra Amin (up five places to 18th) also enjoyed notable jumps.
Additional gains among ODI batters were seen for Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter (up eight places to 21st) and Ireland’s Amy Hunter (up seven spots to 27th). Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce, named Player of the Tournament, climbed eight spots to joint 35th and also improved her all-rounder ranking, moving up 13 positions to 30th.
In the all-rounder rankings, Ireland’s Orla Prendergast moved up three spots to 11th, while Pakistan’s Fatima Sana surged 10 places to joint 15th, highlighting the growing competitiveness and depth in women’s cricket.
