The highly anticipated Pakistan vs New Zealand Super Eight clash in the T20 World Cup at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo was abandoned due to persistent rain, with both teams forced to share a point.
Rain began to fall during the toss and gradually intensified, preventing any play from taking place. Despite hopes for an improvement in weather conditions, the downpour continued for more than two and a half hours, leaving officials with no option but to call off the match.
As per tournament rules, Pakistan and New Zealand were awarded one point each, which could prove crucial in the tightly contested Super Eight stage of the competition.
The abandonment was a disappointment for fans who were expecting a thrilling encounter between two top teams, but weather conditions left the ground unplayable and made it impossible for the match to proceed.
