Pakistan Violates Ceasefire After Indian Precision Strikes; Three Civilians Killed In Jammu And Kashmir

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: Just hours after India launched targeted airstrikes under Operation Sindoor against terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire, killing three civilians in unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB), the Indian Army said.

The incident occurred during the night of May 6–7, as Pakistani troops launched indiscriminate artillery shelling on civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir. In an official statement, the Indian Army confirmed:
“During the night of 06-07 May 2025, the Pakistan Army resorted to arbitrary firing, including artillery shelling from posts across the Line of Control and IB opposite J&K. Three innocent civilians lost their lives in indiscriminate firing/shelling. Indian Army are responding in a proportionate manner.”

The ceasefire breach followed India’s most extensive military incursion into Pakistani territory since the 1971 war, CNN reported. According to Pakistani sources cited by CNN, five locations were struck, including Ahmadpur East and Muridke in Pakistan’s Punjab, and three in PoJK.

However, Indian sources told ANI that a total of nine terror targets were destroyed using precision munitions and Kamikaze drones. These included four inside Pakistan—Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot—and five in PoJK. The operation was a joint effort by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, involving a full mobilisation of military assets.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was closely monitoring the mission overnight, according to sources. The carefully selected targets were aimed at eliminating top operatives from Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)—groups accused of orchestrating deadly attacks on Indian soil.

The Ministry of Defence explained the rationale behind the offensive, which came in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national. In its statement, the Ministry said:
“Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution.”

The strikes were made possible through coordination among all three armed services, and all actions were carried out entirely from Indian territory, the Ministry confirmed. The coordinates were supplied by intelligence agencies, ensuring precision in targeting terrorist infrastructure.

Despite India’s calibrated and restrained military response, Pakistan again violated the ceasefire, this time in Bhimber Gali (Poonch-Rajouri) area.
As per a post on X from the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI):
“Pakistan again violates the Ceasefire Agreement by firing artillery in Bhimber Gali in the Poonch-Rajouri area. Indian Army is responding appropriately in a calibrated manner.”
