New Delhi [India], April 25: In the wake of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has voiced his deep sorrow and anger, joining a growing number of public figures and citizens condemning the brutal killing of 26 innocent people.
Taking to Instagram, the actor shared a heartfelt message: “I hate inhumanity, my heart cries for cruelty in Pahalgam. I pray for peace, love, and humanity all over the world.” His emotional post reflected the national mood of mourning and frustration.
The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, at the popular Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, targeted unarmed tourists, resulting in the death of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepalese citizen. Several others were injured in what has been described as one of the deadliest terror incidents since Pulwama in 2019.
International condemnation followed swiftly. Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof personally extended condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a phone conversation. PM Schoof labeled the attack a “cowardly act” and reiterated the Netherlands’ unwavering support for the global fight against terrorism.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the conversation in a post shared by spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“PM Dick Schoof of Netherlands @MinPres called PM @narendramodi and conveyed condolences on the tragic and inhuman cross-border terror attack in Pahalgam, India. He strongly condemned the cowardly act and rejected terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
In turn, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude for the Netherlands’ solidarity and reaffirmed India’s commitment to global counter-terrorism efforts.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has rolled out a comprehensive set of retaliatory diplomatic and security measures. Key actions include:
- Closure of the Integrated Check Post at Attari, halting movement between India and Pakistan.
- Suspension of the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for Pakistani nationals, with a 40-hour deadline for their exit.
- Reduction in diplomatic staff at both Indian and Pakistani High Commissions.
- Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a landmark 1960 agreement that had weathered decades of tension.
Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Modi vowed that the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack would be dealt with decisively.
“The terrorists responsible for this heinous attack, along with those who conspired it, will face punishment beyond their imagination,” he asserted.
He declared a renewed national resolve to dismantle all remaining terrorist networks and warned that India’s retaliation would be both swift and crushing.
