Chhatrapati Shambhajinagar (Maharashtra) [India]: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday strongly condemned Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, stating that the Pakistani establishment, its intelligence agency ISI, and terror outfit ISIS all seek to create communal strife in India.
“Whether it is ISI, ISIS, or Pakistan’s deep state, their aim is to provoke conflict between Hindus and Muslims. That’s why they carried out the Pahalgam attack—to send a message that non-Muslims cannot feel safe here,” Owaisi said at a press conference in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Shambhajinagar district.
He urged the Indian government to push for Pakistan’s re-inclusion in the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list, highlighting that Pakistan allegedly funds terrorism through illegal money channels. “My demand is that it is necessary to bring Pakistan into the FATF grey list. We should also consider cyber attacks, and even a naval or air blockade,” Owaisi asserted.
Appealing for national unity, Owaisi urged citizens to rise above political differences. “You may have your political disagreements, but do not allow those who wish to divide and weaken India to succeed,” he said.
Responding to questions about the Indian government’s actions post-attack, Owaisi added, “The government will take the necessary decisions. As opposition, our responsibility is to urge for strong action.”
The Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, is one of the deadliest in the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike, where 40 CRPF personnel were martyred. In response, India has already taken significant diplomatic measures against Pakistan, including reducing the strength of the Pakistani High Commission in India and recalling Indian Defence officials from Islamabad.
