Pahalgam Attack Fallout: Doda Administration Orders Pakistani Nationals To Leave India

Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 26: In the wake of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, the Doda district administration on Saturday ordered all Pakistani nationals residing in the region to leave India, in accordance with new directives from the central government.

The administration issued a formal notification instructing all Pakistani nationals to report to the Foreigners’ Registration Office (FRO) at the SSP Office in Doda, submit required documents, and comply with the departure timeline stated in the government order.

“All Pakistani nationals are required to contact their Foreigners’ Registration Office (FRO) in SSP Office, Doda and submit all necessary documents and papers. Pakistani nationals are directed to strictly follow the timeline mentioned in the said Government Order for leaving India,” the notification stated.

The directive follows a significant move by the Ministry of Home Affairs, which revoked all visas granted to Pakistani citizens—except for Long Term, Diplomatic, and Official visas—effective April 27, 2025. Medical visas will remain valid only until April 29.

“The Government of India has revoked all existing Visas issued to Pakistani nationals, except Long Term Visas, Diplomatic and Official visas, with immediate effect from 27th April 2025,” the MHA stated. “Medical Visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only till 29th April 2025.”

The visa cancellation is part of a sweeping national security overhaul following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people—25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen—were killed, mostly tourists.

In response, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held urgent discussions with the chief ministers of various states, instructing them to identify and take immediate action to deport Pakistani nationals residing in their respective jurisdictions.

The move underscores the Centre’s intensified focus on internal security and its zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism and illegal residency in India.
